If your goal is to tone and strengthen your body, then this is probably the closest to an ideal home gym as you’re going to get. With its ergonomic and durable design, the G4 home gym is of a commercial grade quality allowing for smooth, fluid movements and dependability. The adjustable seat allows you to maneuver effectively and comfortably for a variety of strength training exercises including chest and shoulder press, pec flys, lat pulldowns, ab crunches, and more.
As already mentioned, this unit is strictly for those who want to define and strengthen their body. If you’re looking for muscle mass, then this is probably not the home gym you want to go with. With a max weight limit of 160 lbs. and with an optional 50 lb. add-on kit, it’s obviously on the lighter side for heavy lifters but when it comes to defining and strength training, the G4 Home Gym targets the intended areas perfectly.
The G4 Home Gym is definitely priced on the higher side set at about $2500 but if you shop around you’ll be able to find it for less unless you include the leg press which will cost an additional $700. Included with the unit is a revolving lat bar, revolving low row bar, ab/triceps strap, ankle strap, 160-lb. (73 kg) weight stack and weight stack shrouds.
If you’re creative, you can perform over 30 exercises with the G4 Home Gym.
- Arm Exercises – Bicep curls, Tricep extensions.
- Back – Seat rows, lat pulldown.
- Shoulders – lateral raise, front raise, shrugs, press.
- Chest – Press, flies.
- Legs – Extensions, leg curls, hip abduction, hip extension, press (optional).
- Abs – Ab crunch
Areas of Improvement
With the price of this unit, Life Fitness should at least provide more weight. It’s frustrating when they cap the weight limit at 160 lbs. and once again the leg press machine is an unfortunately, an option.
The frame, pulleys, and welds come with a lifetime warranty and the pads and cables come with a 3 year warranty.
